Interrogation of Necromancer

From the edge of the swamp, to a druid hideaway, to hunting in the forest…

The caravan ended up facing an ambush and finding a surprise ally. Capturing a necromancer led you to discover that Rorke has allies with the following equipment:

4 Mining ’jacks (with field marshals)
2 Necromancers
12 “security” thugs
2 underlings (3 if Hill was present)

The one you captured knows that Rorke buys slaves from horned women, but does not know when the next shipment is due. She also reveals that Rorke has two different digs sites in the mountains on top of the base inside the ruins.

How you were found out:

By not activating the signals along the way, the caravan master revealed that the caravan was compromised. She knows that there are preparations for other difficulties, but the underlings were in charge of them.

Session 12-12 Overview

Hungry Waifs

Thieving children attempted to steal food while the caravan was stopped to bury the trollkin. Jaclyn exchanged food for a trinket. It was determined the trinket was a druid artifact of protection.

Argus and Elves in the night

A winter argus a four female argus attack the caravan camp. The party defeats them, but spot shadows moving in the dark. Trailing after the shadows leads you to eventually realize you are being toyed with. At which point, a male Nyss revealed himself and bargains for the pelts of the argus. The party agrees and is promptly stunned when he bounds out of the tree and gives Kari a hug.

Mage Hunter Ambush

When informed you are being betrayed, the Nyss who had been “protecting” you disappear. You encounter two units of Iosans while hearing battle before you. You successfully defeat one group of Mage Hunters and capture two of the second group.

Swamp’s Edge

The party camps at the edge of a swamp that Jarvis has a map of its hazards. Haletaki reveals that the Mage Hunters have figured out the Rorke and his followers have enhanced remnants of Orgoth Magic around Niranthea. He and his fellow captive wish to destroy the ones releasing such soul stealing magic into the world.

Session 11-14 Overview

A not so quiet night:

Priest Sam meets Excoro and is permitted to follow him around to witness his faith.

Cherese, an agent of Iris, is sent to get information from Jarvis about the interrogation of Hill. Jarvis realizes she is up to something and refuses her. Three gentleman overtake Jarvis to get him delivered to Iris. Jarvis puts up a good fight and does kill one of them. Jelyan comes upon the group as Jarvis is spitting blood and being carried away. Jelyan takes Cherese hostage. This is observed by a mage hunter who does not interfere.

The group meets at the Mateu estate and Jarvis stays to be healed. Jelyan takes Cherese to her brother and stays the night there after inviting the group to investigate Hill and Rorke’s rooms at her brother’s estate.

An investigation

Jarvis finds a map of a waterway with hazards. Jelyan figures out winter weather gear and survival/climbing equipment will be needed. Excoro finds a stone that appears to be of Orgoth origin which he and Sam take to the Order of Illumination.

Joining the Caravan

Jarvis traveled to the caravan with Kari and began working on preparation. Jelyan had difficulty with the caravan master as did Excoro, but they eventually convinced him that they belonged. Rufio escorted Myn who handed papers to the caravan master and the caravan promptly departed. [The caravan consists of mainly humans with a few gobbers, one urban trollkin, and one ogrun.]

A plot realized

The group figured out that three of the caravan workers were bandit plants. A plan was hatched to frame them and get them confined. Jarvis planted “stolen” goods in their belongings. One of the bandits spotted him and moved the goods from his belongings. Jarvis and Jelyan approached him while Excoro was out scouting. The bandit revealed that he was to signal a group of mage hunters on when to attack. Jelyan got him to agree to give them a heads up before signalling for the attack.

Surprise attack

A war party of seven trollkin attack the caravan. Battle ensues. The trollkin die. Kari gets a kell stone which she has the urban trollkin read. It reveals that the war party is from a kell that originally is from the area the caravan is headed to, Niranthea. Jarvis assesses the trollkin and realizes that they had been previously attacked by argus and the injuries from the argus are new (within the last day).

A Noble Tourney

Governor Zakhar Glazkov is hosting a tournament for the noble citizens of Khador Llael. The main event will be a dueling event with tournament foils for which the grand prize will be rights of travel throughout Khador Llael and the entirety of the Khador borderlands and a letter of mark. The entry fee for this event will be 500 gold. A champion is allowable if one does not wish to compete themselves. Other events will include firearms dueling, a grand ball, and a calvary demonstration. Come one come all and see the true art of Llael displayed by the finest duelists.

Previous Chapter

Ex, Admon, and Kari were hired to help Ms. Bartley get a commission. They were betrayed by Hill and his boss Roarke and thrown in jail for treason. They made a deal with the CIS and joined the 4th army to hunt out treason along with Drugar who had also been betrayed by Roarke. Rufio became involved with the group as a point of contact with the CIS after he screwed up and was assigned to the 4th army. The party was successful at finding proof of treason and did eventually gain their pardons. After gaining their pardons everyone went their own ways…
